GUEST BLOG: by Judith from Urban Jungle Blog
Creating a list of my favorite plant shops around the world is like picking your favorite dish. It’s nearly impossible, at least for me as a true plant lover. But there are some plant shops that never disappoint, that know how to show off their planty goods, share a lot of beautiful photos on Instagram and help customers find the perfect plant for them. And many of the shops listed below also sell our Urban Jungle book, which makes them extra special to me 😉
One of the things that I realized ever since moving abroad 15 years ago, is that everyone in Holland is SO spoiled with nice (and very affordable!) plants in garden centers, florists, local growers and amazing plant shops. My favorite is Wildernis in Amsterdam, but shops like Groene Vingers Delft, Stek de Stadstuinwinkel Rotterdam, Plantaardig Middelburg en Oerwoud Den Bosch are also really fantastic. Or should I say plantastic.
First of all: the shop closest to my home: Mama Petula in Paris. It’s a beautiful planty concept store in a little house of a former hospital in the 14th arrondissement. Caroline and her team source the most gorgeous plants, seeds, botanical goodies, soil, and lots of “lived-in” terracotta pots. Please note that Mama Petula is only open on Saturday & Sunday. If you’re in Paris throughout the weekend, visit their green corner shop at Welcome Bio Bazar!
Cacti are my very favorite plants and I never get enough of them. Just like the girls at Kaktus København.
Our friends at The Sill are doing an amazing job bringing easy care houseplants to the people in NYC. I also really like that they go live on Instagram regularly to share plant knowledge with their audience and reply to all questions asked.
The very very best in London! Jin and her team select the most gorgeous plants and work on so many cool plant projects as well!
Miroja | Seattle
A lush oasis with plenty of plant accessories right in the middle of Seattle!
This shop makes me want to book a ticket to Portland right away… and immediately regret not being able to bring all their plants home with me 😉
Also in Portland! Their plants and space are extremely photogenic (have you seen their tiled floor?! Swoon!).
Seeing the selection of plants that are on offer “Down Under” (with their very strict importation regulations), is always very intriguing.
More green goodness from Down Under: terrariums and houseplants in Melbourne!
If you want to see and visit more amazing plant shops, Igor and I have listed our favorite shops for plants lovers in our Urban Jungle book! And every weekend we feature a beautiful plant shop on our Urban Jungle Bloggers instagram account, because weekends are for plant shopping, right?!
