Food is so important to us, and a city trip to Hamburg obviously involved a lot of food. And of course, we share our best tips with you. So here we go. Where to eat in Hamburg?
Pizza at L’Osteria
Have you ever seen a pizza this big? We were rather surprised by this restaurant. We were looking for the Italian restaurant Mama, that we found in the “Time to MoMo” guide. But it was gone. Fortunately, we found L’Osteria. This big of a pizza for only 8 euros. Too bad we had to leave the other half behind since she obviously couldn’t finish it by herself.
BURGERS
There were many people who recommended us to go to Ottos Burgers, and I can be honest if I say, I wasn’t the least disappointed. Apparently there are two different venues. But I assume the both of them are really good. We had a basic burger with fries and the bacon burger with smokey BBQ sauce, and that was finger licking good!
Fat Unicorn Sweets
Oh my, just the name alone says it all. It’s fat, it’s sweet, it’s a unicorn. And they serve some amazing cupcakes. The little one could create her own cupcake. The choice between vanilla or chocolate muffin, your own flavor buttercream, some sauce and toppings of your choice. If you’re traveling with kids in Hamburg, you can’t go wrong at this place. I had the salted caramel muffin and it was ooooh so good.
Balz und Balz
If you’re into specialty coffee, feel free to check out this blog that Rike wrote on the coffee scene in Hamburg. We tried out a few. This was one of our favourites. Two cinnamon rolls for just 2,60, fresh waffles for 3 euros and really good cappuccinos. Hello, can we come back soon please?
The people at Moki’s know what a person needs, they serve coffee and soul food. That last one is different for everyone, but trust me, as I say, they’ve got what you need. If you’re craving banana bread or any kind of bowl, they will serve it.
There are two things I really like in Germany. Needless to say the first is bratwurst and the second is the bread. If you feel the same, this bakery is THE place to go. Make sure to get your hands on a Franz Brotchen, a flattened cinnamon roll but oh so good. We also tried out the Croffin (Croissant Muffin)
Amazing cakes, served in a cup. Do I need to say more? Instagram-worthy content is very much available here, just find yourself a colorful wall to gram that cake.
We didn’t make it to this one, but it looked so good that I’m pretty sure it should be on your list. They have a daily changing menu which they broadcast on FB. Let me know if it was this good as it looked. We need to come back for this.
