Let’s Cocktail | Winter nights with Baileys

Geen 18? Geen alcohol!

“Do you like Baileys?” said the text from Eliane. Do I like Baileys?! I can’t imagine a world where anyone doesn’t like Baileys. But apparently, my blog partner in crime and I disagree on this one. So I happily agreed to receive the December box from Let’s Cocktail, which was all about, you guessed it, Baileys.

What do I like about Baileys? For me, it’s all about sweet creamy comfort. My mom was a Baileys on ice kind of gal who liked to serve it at dinner parties for her amigas at home. The first time I was finally allowed to have a taste of alcohol, it was Baileys… and it was love at first sip.

While my (drinking-age) peers first threw themselves into tequila and its harder cousins, I was the nice young lady sipping demurely at a glass of Baileys on ice. Break it to me gently, is what I always say.

Now that I’m all grown up (well, not really), I find that Bailey’s is a perfect complement for another favorite grown-up drink: coffee. Although I hardly drink coffee these days, I couldn’t resist the pull of a flat white martini with Baileys.

All you’ll need is:

30ml Baileys Irish Cream 25ml Smirnoff Vodka 25ml espresso Chocolate covered coffee beans or hazelnuts to garnish

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake away, strain and pour into a martini glass! Easy peasy. Throw in some chocolate covered coffee beans or hazelnuts for a nice crunchy surprise at the bottom.

On these long, cold nights, my favorite thing is to curl up on the couch in my coziest knits and enjoy a steaming cup of luxe hot chocolate. Baileys Chocolat Luxe brings that winter treat to a decadent new level. The mix of Belgian chocolate, Irish cream and fine whisky makes it a no brainer. I could have it on ice, of course, which the easiest thing, but I’m tropical and I haven’t evolved for cold weather. Turn up the heat, please!

Just warm up some Baileys Chocolat Luxe in your kitschiest mug (I have a collection of kitschy Christmas market mugs precisely for times like these). A stick of cinnamon is optional. Light some candles, get that Netflix going, and you’re all set. Winter nights just got a whole lot cozier.

What’s your beverage of choice this winter? Are you a Baileys kinda person too? Reveal yourself, we Baileys lovers have to stick together!
