The dreamiest cocktail bar has recently opened its doors in Rotterdam’s old north. It’s named after St Germain, the French musician whose house and nu jazz style is a favourite of owner Florence. She describes Rose as the hotel bar without the hotel. With cocktails like the elevator, tourist & don’t disturb, she wants it to be a bit of a flirtatious affair with cosy corners and an offering of snacks aptly named room service.
The feature floral wallpaper, pink velvet couches & plants in every corner make Rose the perfect spot to gather with your sweetest to catchup & sample the ‘holiday’ or ‘the affair.’ The subtle tropical vibe and pastel tones gives Rose a personality unique to this part of town. The space has lots of original character and so Florence and co decided to make a feature out of the black and white checkered floor. It wasn’t love at first sight but once all the pink and rich greens were introduced, it all came together quite serendipitously.
The mix of old and new is something they wanted to celebrate in the design of the space. Having sampled the ‘rose rouge’ and ‘elevator’ (mixed with my favourite gingerbeer), it was love at first sip. Not only does Florence have an eye for detail but the girl knows how to mix a cocktail. Rose Rouge is not only a treat for the eyes but for the tastebuds. My new hangout with the girls awaits you!
